Real Water Inc. Hepatitis Lawyer Update: FDA Updates on the Hepatitis Outbreak Linking to “Real Water” Brand Alkaline Water
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued an update on the continued investigation of “Real Water” Brand Alkaline Water on April 16, 2021. In their recent update, the FDA issued a notice to consumers of the recalled “Real Water” products due to the fact that although a recall was announced in late-March 2021 the “Real Water” brand alkaline water is still being offered for sale through online retailers. Real Water Inc. has taken action and begun trying to track down all the water products sold by online retailers and make sure they are no longer available to consumers.
In their update, the FDA stated, that investigators were sent to the “Real Water” facilities in Henderson, NV and Mesa, AZ on March 25th, 2021. Due to the lack of cooperation from Real Water Inc. the FDA had a few setbacks investigating the separate facilities but has since completed their investigations. At this time the FDA has informed that they are reviewing both the records provided by Real Water Inc., and the reports from the separate facilities. Even though the investigation of the outbreak is not fully complete the FDA has stated that the current epidemiologic information indicates that this alkaline water product may be the cause of the illnesses.
Consumers, restaurants, and retail stores are still being advised to refrain from purchasing, selling, or drinking the “Real Water” brand alkaline water. As of the original outbreak announcement linked to the “Real Water” products the number of people linked to the outbreak has not increased although many consumers have reported illness similar to Hepatitis symptoms. The recalled products were distributed nationwide but the 5-gallon containers were distributed to the greater Las Vegas, NV area, central California coastal region, and Phoenix, AZ. Consumers should stay vigilant since they may still have the recalled products in their homes without realizing it.
People who have drunk the contaminated water products may experience fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, clay or gray-colored bowel movements, joint pain, yellow eyes, and jaundice, which are all symptoms of Hepatitis. Those experiencing symptoms should consider seeking medical attention as soon as possible, if not properly treated a person with Hepatitis may have long-lasting liver damage. Ron Simon, a National Hepatitis Lawyer, stated:
“A person usually becomes sick 15 to 50 day’s post-exposure of food or beverage containing the HAV virus. Along with infection comes inflammation of the liver, which is vital for removing harmful chemicals from the body, storing energy, fighting infection, and storing vitamins and nutrients.”
