Nekter Juice Bar Salmonella Lawyer Update: 9 Reported Salmonella Cases Linked to a Juice Bar in Woodbury Minnesota.
The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) announced on October 9, 2020, their investigation on a recent salmonella outbreak linked to Nekter Juice Bar. Minnesota Health Officials have stated that thus far a total of 9 people have been diagnosed with Salmonella Paratyphi B infections after eating or drinking products served at the juice bar. Out of those affected by the recent outbreak at least 2 have required hospitalization, the dates at which the people affected began experiencing symptoms of Salmonella ranged from August 27 to September 21, 2020.
Minnesota Health Officials are investigating the source of this salmonella outbreak alongside the Washington County Public Health and Environment. The specific food product involved in the outbreak has yet to be determined, but along with the help of health department officials, Nekter Juice Bar has cleaned, sanitized, and restocked its ingredients. According to the information provided by the MDH, no one product at the Juice Bar has been linked to the outbreak, in their investigation, the people who purchased food consumed a variety of menu items such as juices, smoothies, or bowls from mid-August to Sept. 20.
The cases linked to the outbreak so far live in or visited east Twin Cities metro counties and range from the age of 20 to 82. Health officials are advising people who consumed food or drinks from Nekter Juice Bar in Woodbury, MN to stay vigilant for symptoms of salmonella. People experiencing severe symptoms should get in contact with a medical health care provider a soon as possible and request a stool culture.
Salmonella bacteria multiply at an alarming rate which can cause symptoms to develop as early as 12 to 96 hours after being exposed to the contaminated product. Symptoms normally include diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain and fever. At times people can begin to experience symptoms up to 2 weeks after consuming food contaminated with the salmonella bacteria. Ron Simon, a national Salmonella Lawyer, stated: “The infectious dose of Salmonella is very small, and can be as small as 15-20 cells… A Salmonella infection is usually diagnosed by a positive culture from a stool sample of the infected person. In more severe illnesses, Salmonella bacteria can sometimes be detected in a contaminated person’s blood or urine.”
