The recalled Honey Smacks® cereal includes 15.3 oz and 23 oz packages that had been distributed across the US as well as in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, the Caribbean, Guam, Tahiti and Saipan. The 15.3 oz package can be identified by UPC 3800039103 with a best buy date of JUN 14, 2018 through JUN 14, 2019. The 23 oz package can be identified by UPC 3800014810 with a best buy date of JUN 14, 2018 through JUN 14, 2019.
Consumers who have purchased these packages of Honey Smacks® cereal should not eat them. The product should be disposed of properly to avoid illness. No other Kellogg products are affected. Honey Smack Lawyer recommends seeking medical attention and having a stool culture performed if you suspect you have become ill from consumption of Honey Smack brand cereal.
Salmonella can cause serious illness. Salmonellosis , the infection caused by salmonella bacteria , often results in acute gastroenteritis , an illness that usually results in diarrhea and/or vomiting due to severe inflammation of the stomach and intestines caused by the bacteria. Infected individuals typically begin to experience diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps 8 to 72 hours after eating contaminated food. The diarrhea, which may be bloody, may start suddenly and without warning. Other symptoms occur less frequently, including headache, nausea, vomiting, joint pain, and fatigue.
