Fratelli Beretta Salmonella Lawyer Update: Fratelli Beretta brand prepackaged Uncured Antipasto trays Linked to Two Salmonella Outbreaks.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have issued another update on the salmonella outbreaks linked to Italian-style meats on August 26, 2021. In their report, the CDC stated that although no new cases have been reported as of yet, they were able to trace the outbreaks back to Fratelli Beretta brand prepackaged Uncured Antipasto trays. After interviewing some of the people affected by the Outbreaks State and Local health officials noticed that among the fifteen interviewed individual’s some remembered the brand name Fratelli Beretta brand. After reviewing the affected individuals shopper card records they also discovered that at least fourteen of them had purchased Fratelli Beretta brand prepackaged Uncured Antipasto trays.
The CDC is advising people to refrain from eating Fratelli Beretta brand prepackaged Uncured Antipasto trays with “best by” dates on or before February 11, 2022. No recall announcement has been issued at this time, and the CDC has stated that the advice does no include Italian-style meats sliced at delis. Although a product has been linked to the outbreak the CDC along with State and Local Health Officials are still investigating to determine if additional products are linked to illness.
The true number of individuals affected by these two salmonella outbreaks is still a mystery at this time since many may have yet to seek medical attention. According to the CDC, the illnesses linked to both the Salmonella Typhimurium and Infantis infections range from May 9, 2021, to July 27, 2021. The number of cases linked to the outbreaks may continue to grow in the following weeks since it usually takes 3 to 4 weeks to determine if a sick person is part of an outbreak.
Consumers who may have eaten the Fratelli Beretta brand prepackaged Uncured Antipasto trays contaminated with salmonella may begin experiencing symptoms within a couple of hours or days of eating the Italian-style meats. Individuals who have eaten the Italian-style meats and are experiencing symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain should consider seeking out medical attention as soon as possible and requesting a stool culture. Ron Simon, a National Salmonella Lawyer, stated:
“A series of events occurs between the time a patient is infected and the time public health officials can determine if the patient is part of an outbreak. This means that there will be a delay between the start of illness and confirmation that a patient is part of the outbreak. In addition, many victims of this salmonella outbreak may choose not to seek medical care, either due to COVID 19 or due to their belief they can 'push through' the illness, or if they do seek medical attention, they or their physician may not order a stool culture. If they fail to order a stool culture, it is very hard to prove their illness was caused by ingestion of meat from a Fratelli Beretta brand prepackaged uncured antipasto tray. Because salmonella can be so dangerous, we encourage anyone who is ill with diarrhea for more than 24 or 36 hours, likely from food poisoning, to seek medical attention and have a stool culture performed. The more cases that are identified, the easier it is for health officials to be certain about the cause of the illnesses and the sooner they can encourage a recall to prevent further illnesses.”
