Nekter Juice Bar Salmonella Lawyer Update: Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Nekter Juice Bar Ends with 18 Reported Cases.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the end of the Salmonella Paratyphi outbreak linked to Nekter Juice Bar. In the information provided about the outbreak, it was stated that a total of 18 were sickened due to the outbreak. According to the FDA, although the cases were reported from 4 different states at least 10 of the 18 cases were linked to the Nekter Juice Bar in Woodbury, Minnesota. Although the outbreak has been officially announced over the FDA was unable to name a specific product as the source of the outbreak.
Originally the Nekter Juice Bar outbreak was announced in early October 2020, at the time 9 cases were linked to the same strain of Salmonella as the outbreak. The Minnesota Department of Health announced their investigation of the outbreak on October 9, 2020, and urged all individuals who had purchased products at the juice bar to stay vigilant for symptoms of salmonella. Many of the people reported ordering juices, smoothies, and bowls from the Woodbury location before becoming ill.
In their report, the FDA stated that they conducted a traceback investigation and collected and analyzed ingredients that were consumed by multiple people linked to the outbreak. Many of the products used at the Nekter Juice Bar such as peanut butter, cashew milk, almond butter, chia seeds, hemp seeds, hemp hearts, coconut flakes, agave nectar, granola, goji berries and more have been previously linked to salmonella outbreak in the past. Sadly, despite their efforts, the FDA was unable to identify the specific food that was the source of the contamination.
Symptoms of salmonella normally include nausea, vomiting, stomach and abdominal cramps, and pain, and diarrhea that may be bloody. People who are experiencing symptoms such as this should contact a medical health care provider as soon as possible.
